GLint Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share user data. By using GLint, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Data Collection

GLint collects the following types of data:

  • User Activity: The extension's core function requires it to handle user activity only when it is active. This includes:
    • Mouse Position & Clicks: To know which element you are hovering over or selecting to view issue details and apply fixes.
    • Scroll Events: To ensure issue highlights and overlays stay in the correct position as you scroll.
This data is used exclusively on your local computer, in real-time, to make the extension work. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted.
  • Website Content: To analyse a page for design issues, the extension must access website content only when you activate it. This includes:
    • DOM & Computed Styles: Reading the page's structure and computed CSS to detect issues such as contrast failures, off-palette colours, type scale deviations, spacing inconsistencies, and more.
    • Screenshots: Capturing visible tab screenshots locally when you generate an HTML report. Screenshots are used solely to illustrate before/after comparisons within the report and are processed entirely on your device.
This data is only read from the page to power the analysis and reporting features. It is never stored on any server or transmitted externally.
  • Local Preferences & Settings: Your extension preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage APIs. This includes:
    • Whether to show or hide fixed and ignored issues.
    • Which issue categories are enabled or disabled.
    • Design token files you have uploaded, stored per site hostname.
    • Generated report data, retained temporarily on your device (a maximum of 3 reports at a time) to allow the report page to load. Report data is automatically removed as new reports are generated.
This data is never transmitted to any server.
  • License Information: If you have purchased a Pro license, your license key and activation status are stored locally on your device and verified with Gumroad's servers to confirm your purchase.

Note: We prioritize your privacy and do not collect or store any information beyond what is necessary for the functionalities of our extension. We never resell your personal information to other services or companies.

2. How We Use Data

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

  • License Validation: We verify your license key with Gumroad's servers to confirm your purchase and ensure proper activation limits are respected.
  • Feature Access: We use your license status to enable or disable Pro features within the extension.
  • Design Analysis: We read the DOM and computed styles of the active page to detect design issues and surface them as highlights and issue details. All analysis happens locally in your browser.
  • Fix Application: We inject CSS into the active page locally to apply suggested fixes. These changes exist only in your browser session and are not saved to or applied on the original website.
  • Report Generation: We capture screenshots and collect issue data locally to build an HTML report of the changes you have applied. Report data is stored briefly in local Chrome storage and is never sent to any server.
  • Preference Storage: We store your settings locally so your preferences persist across sessions on the same device.

3. Data Sharing

We share the collected data with:

  • Gumroad: We send license validation requests to Gumroad's servers to verify the purchase status of Pro users. You can review their privacy practices at gumroad.com/privacy.

Note: Our data sharing practices are strictly limited to the service listed above. We never share, distribute, or resell your personal information to any other services or companies.

4. Data Storage

GLint stores data as follows:

  • Local Storage: Your license key, Pro status, extension preferences, design token files, and temporary report data are stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage APIs.
  • No Server Storage: We do not store any personal information on our servers. All data remains on your device or with Gumroad for the purposes of license validation.

5. Third-Party Services

GLint uses the following third-party services:

  • Gumroad [gumroad.com]: Handles all payment processing, license key generation, and purchase verification.

Note: Our use of your data is strictly confined to the stated purposes above. We never use your personal data for any undisclosed reasons.

6. User Rights

Users have the right to access, rectify, or delete their personal data. Because GLint stores all data locally on your device, you can clear it at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension storage through your browser settings. If you wish to exercise any rights related to data held by Gumroad (such as purchase records), please contact Gumroad directly.
